Super Shopper: Totally Terrific Deals at Talbot's

» Read similar stories filed under:

This Super Shopper made a quick visit to Talbot’s in the Eden Prairie Center last weekend and left super satisfied with her super-Sunday-afternoon-sale-score.

It’s been a few months, perhaps years, since Super Shopper checked out the work wear options at Talbot’s – usually finding the prices a bit high and the styles a bit too conservative.

But a great looking black-and-white belted jacket “dress” displayed in the window made me stop, shop and …eventually buy. It wasn’t the tempting jacket dress (Talbot’s was out of my size), but I did score two great end-of-the-season deals. I have been looking for months to find a basic brown skirt (to pair with my nearly all brown, all black and slight pop-of-color-work wardrobe) and soon struck gold (brown!) at Talbot’s. My four-season, brown pencil skirt was a steal at $24 (regularly priced at $98) – thanks to the clearance rack and an additional 50% savings off the lowest price.

I also found a sleeveless wool-blend, fits-just-right, black sheath dress – with a thin black belt – to pair perfectly with tall boots, tights and heels, or a great cardigan for $57. Marked down, with that additional 50% “extra” clearance savings, from $198.

While tempted by a high-neck white ruffled blouse dressed with a “totally rocks” chunky necklace, I left Talbot’s super-satisfied with my two sale-rack purchases.

Check out the winter clearance sale – and new spring styles – at the Eden Prairie Talbot’s at 1018 Eden Prairie Center, (952) 946-6943 or visit www.talbots.com.

Try The Limited. I was a skeptical 'betweener' size shopper but have recently found good luck with both tops and bottoms. Some have needed hemming, but the short-length pants - great for basic suiting and separates - have worked well. And there are several styles to fit different body types. I have found great sweaters, shirts and blouses in the clearance racks, too, which has made the investment in some pieces (jackets) easier to swallow.

The Southdale staff has been particularly helpful in finding the right styles, sizes and prices for me and my wallet.

Thanks. I have also found a couple of cute shirts on clearance, too, but haven't really tried their pants. I've just accepted that hemming is part of my life.

I never know where to shop. I'm a tightwad when it comes to clothes shopping, but I've finally decided to get rid of my college wardrobe for something more updated. Problem is I'm between junior sizes and misses and department store petites are hit and miss (They're too wide). Any suggestions?
