Saw "Nine" last weekend at The Parkway Theater in Minneapolis (http://theparkwaytheater.com/), which I had never visited before.
The first thing I saw was the awesome movie poster (pictured above) on the wall!
This is a fun venue because the first few rows are leather couches, where you can lounge and watch your show. And you can bring in food and beverages from the restaurant next door. I didn't do that, of course, but I was glad to know I could have.
Nine was a winner for me. I like a good movie musical. I thought the music was a little too slow, which made the movie seem long. But Fergie was great and I loved Kate Hudson's number.
But I must admit that the best part about the visit, besides the company, was the poster on the wall from "Untamed Heart," which I saw (with my sorority sisters) being filmed way back when we were in college.
I'm going to give "Nine" a full-Downey Jr.
Which brings me to another problem. I'm concerned that with Jeff Bridges winning a Golden Globe and SAG Award that he's got a really good chance of winning an Oscar. Does that mean I have to adjust my rating system?
So, as I've outlined previously, here's my rating system:
4 stars, the best, gets a Johnny Depp.
3 stars, still pretty awesome, gets a Robert Downey Jr.
2 stars, OK, worth watching, but kind of boring, gets a Leonardo DiCaprio.
1 star, can't in good conscience recommend, gets a Jeff Bridges (sorry, Bridges lovers).
I'll ask you, readers, what would your rating system of actors or actresses look like? Respond in the comments below.
Here's the ongoing list:
(R means it is or will be available for rental, M means I've got plans to see it on the calendar, E means it's an emergency because I'm worried it might not be in theaters long and it's not coming out on video in time, movies I've seen are listed at the end.)

Best movie theater?...
Back to page topI don't see very many movies at the theater and am not familiar with the best ones in the south metro. What are your recommendations of the best theaters for price, convenience and atmosphere?
Good idea...
Back to page topThat's a good idea. I'll work on that for next week! Right off hand, the AMC theaters are really nice and affordable locally on weekdays, but their snacks seem to have gotten more expensive in proportion to the discount on weekday ticket prices (so eat a good dinner before the movie).
